BSF claims to detain BGB member at Tripura Border
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has detained a member of Bangladesh’s Border Guard (BGB) after he reportedly crossed into Indian territory.
The detained officer has been identified as Mohammad Miraj Islam, a member of BGB’s 60th Battalion stationed in Madla, Brahmanbaria. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon near Kamthana village in Sepahijala district, Tripura.
According to BSF sources, Miraj, accompanied by another BGB member, entered India approximately 100 meters through gates 136–137 and proceeded into a local tea garden. BSF personnel quickly intercepted the group, detaining Miraj while the other member returned to Bangladesh.
The detained officer, who was reportedly armed, is currently being interrogated at the Kamthana BSF camp. Authorities are investigating his intentions.
Meanwhile, officials from both the BSF and BGB have been in telephone contact, and a resolution through a flag meeting is expected on Friday.
