BSF gunfire injures Bangladeshi farmer near feni border

A Bangladeshi farmer was injured in an alleged shooting by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near the Chhagalnaiya border in Feni on Friday (September 4).

The injured farmer, Mosharraf, 45, was hit by a bullet in the left side of his back while working in his field in the Purba Joynagar border area of Chhagalnaiya upazila around 4pm, according to his account.

Mosharraf, a resident of the Joynagar area and son of late Md Mostafa, said he was working on his land when a bullet allegedly fired by BSF personnel struck him.

He was later rescued and taken to CMCH, where he was admitted to the casualty section of Ward 2 after receiving treatment in the emergency department.

Doctors removed some bullet fragments from his body, although several pieces reportedly remained lodged inside.

SI Nurul Alam Ashek, in charge of the CMCH police outpost, said Mosharraf was admitted to the hospital on Friday night after being injured while working in the border area.

He confirmed the account based on information provided by the injured farmer.
