BSF hands over 10 Bangladeshis to BGB at Satkhira border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over 10 Bangladeshis to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) after detaining them for illegally entering India. They were repatriated through a flag meeting at the Taluigacha border in Satkhira Sadar upazila on Wednesday evening. Later at night, they were handed over to Satkhira Sadar Police Station.

Those handed over are: Noyamat Ali of Sonatala in Kaliganj, Satkhira, and his wife Papia Begum; Shila Akter Sorbanu of Patkelghata and her two sons Habib Molla and Labiba Molla; Abdul Mosha of Terokhada in Khulna, his wife Afroze Molla and daughter Rukaiya Khatun; and Mosha. Moslema Khatun of Gobindaganj in Gaibandha with her daughter Anabia.

Reports said they crossed the border illegally on the night of September 23. They were detained by BSF at the Hakimpur checkpoint while attempting to enter India.

Shaminul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, said legal procedures are underway, after which the detainees will be handed over to their families.
