BSF hands over 30 Bangladeshis thru Meherpur border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over 30 Bangladeshi nationals to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) through the Kazipur border in Meherpur’s Gangni upazila.

The handover took place around noon on Saturday (October 25) near main pillar No. 147, said Kazipur BGB camp commander Subedar Md Shahabuddin.

Among those repatriated are eight men, sixteen women, and six members of the third gender who had been imprisoned in India for illegal entry. They were released from jail and transferred to the BSF by Indian police before being formally handed over to BGB in a flag meeting.

Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bani Israil said legal procedures will follow once they are brought to the station.
