BSF member detained at Patgram border in Lalmonirhat
A member of India’s Border Security Force BSF has been detained by Border Guard Bangladesh BGB for allegedly entering Bangladesh by crossing the Angarpota border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat.
The detention took place around 4:30am on Sunday in the Dangapara area along the border.
The detained BSF member has been identified as Bed Prakash, a constable of the Arjun BSF camp under Mekhliganj police station in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal.
A shotgun, two rounds of ammunition, a wireless set and a mobile phone were seized from him at the time of detention.
According to BGB and local sources, Bed Prakash crossed the zero line early in the morning and entered about 200 yards inside Bangladeshi territory. Members of the Angarpota camp of Rangpur-51 BGB Battalion, who were on patrol near Dangapara adjacent to sub-pillar number seven of main pillar number one, detained him.
Confirming the incident, Angarpota BGB camp commander Nayek Subedar Md Rafiquzzaman said the matter has been communicated to BSF authorities. The detained BSF member is currently at the BGB camp and will be handed over through a flag meeting.
