BSF member shot at Bangladesh-India border
A member of India’s Border Security Force has been shot at the Bangladesh-India border in Tripura. The incident occurred in the Maheshpur border area under Dharmanagar subdivision in North Tripura.
BBC Bangla reported that the injured jawan is Bipin Kumar, 35, a member of the BSF’s 97 Battalion. He was shot while on duty.
He was initially admitted to Dharmanagar Sub-divisional Hospital in critical condition and later transferred to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment as his condition deteriorated.
Prasun Bhattacharjee, a medical officer at Dharmanagar Sub-divisional Hospital, told journalists that the injured BSF member sustained two gunshot wounds. Although his condition remains critical, it has stabilised somewhat after initial treatment.
He is currently undergoing treatment at GB Hospital in Agartala.
No immediate reaction was available from BSF headquarters, either locally or in Delhi. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the source of the gunfire.
