The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed three women into Bangladesh through the Dariapur border in Mujibnagar upazila of Meherpur. Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained them on Friday (September 5) morning and handed them over to Mujibnagar Police Station.
The detainees were identified as Mamota Begum (60) of Bagerhat district, and her two daughters, Moyna Begum (30) and Mahinur (25).
According to police, Momota Begum had been living illegally in Haryana, India, for the past 30 years. Her two daughters were born and educated there. Last Sunday, Indian police suddenly picked them up from their home and handed them over to the BSF. On Friday morning, the BSF sent them across the barbed wire fence into Bangladesh. BGB detained them from the area near International Border Pillar 112’s 3S sub-pillar in Dariapur.
