BSF pushes in 10 people through Naogaon border
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has allegedly pushed 10 individuals into Bangladesh through the Dhamoirhat border in Naogaon early Thursday morning.
According to officials, the incident occurred near border pillar 256/7-S in the Agradigun area. Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) apprehended the individuals shortly after they entered Bangladeshi territory.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, commander of BGB-14 Battalion (Patnitala), confirmed the incident and said the detainees include eight women and two men: Kakoli Akter (27), Ruzina Akter (33), Asma Begum (40), Khadija Begum (34), Pakhi Begum (24), Nasrin Begum (33), Ruma Begum (25), Kohinur Begum (26), Manjurul Islam (36), and Suman Hossain (27).
A BGB patrol team, led by Subedar Jihad Ali of the Agradigun Border Outpost, spotted the group loitering approximately one kilometer inside Bangladeshi territory near Maheshpur. They were detained on suspicion.
Initial questioning revealed that the individuals had previously crossed into India illegally to seek employment—eight women working as domestic helpers and two men as construction workers in Mumbai. They were later detained by Indian police (CID) and, on July 29, were handed over by BSF near the Haribansipur camp.
Lieutenant Colonel Hossain stated that legal proceedings are underway and the detainees will be handed over to Dhamoirhat Police Station. Authorities believe all of them are Bangladeshi nationals.
