BSF pushes in 15 people through Panchagarh Border
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has once again forcibly pushed 15 people, including women and children, into Bangladesh through two separate border points in Panchagarh.
According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the incident occurred late Friday night (July 4) at the Khuniyapara border in Chaklahat Union and the Amarkhana border in Amarkhana Union, both under the jurisdiction of the 56 BGB Battalion in Nilphamari.
In the early hours of the morning, 10 individuals—4 men, 3 women, and 3 children—were pushed through sub-pillar number 19 of main pillar 764 at the Khuniyapara border by members of the Kailash BOP of India's 93 BSF Battalion. BGB personnel from the Shinroad BOP later detained them.
On the same night, five more people—2 women, 1 man, and 2 children—were pushed through sub-pillar number 3 of main pillar 743 at the Amarkhana border by members of the 46 BSF Battalion's Balachan camp. BGB’s Amarkhana BOP detained them from the Board Bazar area the following morning.
All the individuals claimed to be residents of Khulna, Bagerhat, and Narail districts. The 10 people detained at the Khuniyapara border have been handed over to the Sadar Police Station. The remaining five are in the process of being transferred.
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Hill Zaman confirmed the handover and stated, "We have provided safe shelter for them in coordination with the local administration. Legal action will be taken after verifying their citizenship status."
This marks the latest in a series of such incidents. In the past two months alone, the BSF has reportedly pushed a total of 101 individuals, including women and children, into Bangladesh through the Panchagarh border across seven separate incidents.
