The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed in 21 individuals into Bangladesh through the Durgapur border in Netrokona district early Thursday morning. Among those pushed in, 19 belong to the third gender and 2 are men.
According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the incident took place around 5:00 am near the 1148/4-S border pillar at the Bijoypur Border Outpost (BOP). The group was found approximately 100 yards inside Bangladeshi territory in the Aarapara area, where they were detained by a BGB patrol team led by Havildar Abdul Karim.
Camp Commander Shahidul Islam of the BGB’s Bijoypur camp under Battalion 31 confirmed the incident. He stated that all individuals were taken into custody and their identities verified during initial interrogation.
The detainees are residents of various districts including Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajbari, Patuakhali, Moulvibazar, Jamalpur, Tangail, and Brahmanbaria. They had traveled to Delhi at different times over the past week to seven years for employment purposes.
Authorities report that the group was recently rounded up from different parts of Delhi and flown to Assam via Nazirabad Airport. From there, they were pushed into Bangladesh through the Bijoypur border in the early hours of the morning.
BGB officials have stated that arrangements are being made to hand over the detainees to Durgapur Police Station for further legal procedures.
