The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed 24 individuals, including eight children, into Bangladesh through two border points in Panchagarh, according to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The incidents took place on Wednesday night (July 17) along the Malkadanga Dariya More border in Boda Upazila and the Shinroad border in Panchagarh Sadar Upazila.

Local residents found the individuals near the border and handed them over to BGB. Following initial interrogation, BGB transferred 17 people to Boda Police Station and six to Panchagarh Sadar Police Station.

According to BGB, the individuals had previously crossed into India illegally and were working in various regions, including Delhi and Gujarat. They were later detained by Indian police and handed over to BSF, who allegedly pushed them back into Bangladesh.

Most of the individuals are said to be residents of Narail and Bagerhat districts. BGB officials noted that one of the individuals could not confirm his identity and may be an Indian citizen. An investigation is ongoing.

Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Mohammad Badruddoja, commander of the Nilphamari-56 BGB Battalion, confirmed that a flag meeting will be held with the BSF regarding the incident. Legal steps are being taken, and the individuals are currently under police custody for verification.
