The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed four Bangladeshi nationals—one man and three women—across the Dariapur border in Meherpur’s Mujibnagar Upazila on Wednesday morning (August 13).

The detainees are Tahajjal Hossain, 35, of Jashore; Sulta Sarkar, 42, of Satkhira’s Kaliganj; Monowara, 35, of Satkhira’s Shyamnagar; and Tripti Baruri, 35, of Madaripur’s Rajoir.

They were arrested by Mujibnagar police around 11.00am after being found in the Dariapur Bazar area.

Police said the four had been convicted in India for illegally entering the country to seek medical treatment. After serving their sentences, the BSF expelled them to Bangladesh.

Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mujibnagar Police Station, confirmed their detention, stating that their citizenship is being verified before further action is taken.

Over the past three months, the BSF has reportedly pushed about 150 Bangladeshis—men, women, and children—back into the country through various border points in Mujibnagar and Meherpur.
