BSF push-in attempts at 6 border points foiled by BGB
The Indian Border Security Force has been attempting to illegally push people into Bangladesh at various border points. From Thursday, June 4, to Saturday, June 6, the BSF tried to push over a hundred people, including women and children, through at least six border points. All attempts have been foiled by the Border Guard Bangladesh's tough stance, intensified patrols and local resistance.
Chapainawabganj
On Thursday, June 4, around 3:00 am, the BSF attempted to push 28 people (12 men, 10 women, 6 children) through pillar 203/6-R at the Bangabari border in Gomastapur upazila. BGB prevented their entry. Two flag meetings were held but no solution was reached. After nearly two days at the zero line, the BSF took them back on Saturday, June 6.
Naogaon
On Friday, June 5, around 7:30 am, the BSF attempted to push 17 people through pillar 238/MP at the Hapania border in Sapahar upazila. BGB took a tough stance. Around 11:00 pm, the BSF forcibly took them back to India. Locals said the individuals were crying as they were taken away. BGB patrols were intensified after receiving information.
Lalmonirhat
On Friday, June 5, early morning, the BSF attempted to push 33 people through five border points in Hatibandha, Patgram and Aditmari upazilas. BGB and local residents resisted. After keeping them stranded all day, the BSF turned off border lights at night and took them back.
Meherpur
On Saturday, June 6, early morning, the BSF attempted to push six people through international pillar 140/5 S at the Tetulbaria border in Gangni upazila. BGB and local villagers prevented their entry. Locals claimed the BSF opened a section of barbed wire fence and tried to push them towards Bangladesh. The group remained at the zero line.
Panchagarh
On Friday, June 5, early morning, the BSF attempted to push 10 people, including women and children, through the South Prainpara border in Panchagarh Sadar upazila. BGB blocked their entry. Multiple flag meetings have been held without resolution. BGB commander said pushing people across the border in darkness is not acceptable.
Thakurgaon
On Saturday, June 6, early morning, the BSF attempted to push 11 people, including children, through the Mashalgaon border in Haripur upazila. BGB patrol spotted suspicious movement and took a tough stance, forcing the individuals to return to Indian territory.
The BGB has stated that no push-in attempt will be accepted without following international law and established diplomatic processes. Maximum vigilance has been maintained at the border to prevent illegal infiltration.
