The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has repatriated 24 Bangladeshi nationals, including women, men, and children, who had been living and working in Delhi, India, for several years.

The formal handover to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) took place on Friday night (May 23) during a flag meeting near Pillar No. 932 along the Balatari border under Phulbari upazila in Kurigram.

According to BGB officials, the returnees had voluntarily surrendered at a BSF camp expressing their desire to return home. Following coordination between the two border forces, the BSF agreed to repatriate the group upon confirmation of their identities.

BGB sources stated that after receiving a list of the individuals from the BSF, they carried out a thorough identity verification process. Once confirmed, the group was officially received by the BGB and later handed over to their families in the presence of local public representatives.

Hasen Ali, Chairman of Naodanga Union Parishad, said most of the returnees had been living in India for 8 to 10 years. “They worked in Delhi and had long hoped to come back home. Their return was made possible through proper diplomatic and border coordination,” he added.

Major Hasnain, deputy commander of the Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion, confirmed the successful return. “The repatriation was carried out following proper protocol through a flag meeting with BSF. The individuals were safely handed over to their families,” he said.
