BSF returns eight Bangladeshi nationals at Satkhira border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over eight Bangladeshi nationals detained near the Satkhira border to the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) on Thursday evening (September 18).

The handover took place during a flag meeting at the Toluigacha border point in Satkhira between the BSF’s Amudia camp and the BGB.

The eight individuals were subsequently handed over to Satkhira Sadar police station on the same night.

According to the BGB’s general diary, the eight Bangladeshis were detained by BSF personnel on Tuesday around 10 pm near the Hakimpur check post in India while attempting to cross the border.

The returned individuals are Md. Harun, 30, son of Md. Moni Biswas from Naksa village in Koyra upazila, Khulna; Jeba Sabiha Binte Karim, 22, wife of Shamsul Alam from Dhamor village in Fulbari, Mymensingh; Jannat Begum, 35, wife of Md. Sujon; Nipa, 39, wife of Abdul Alim from Bhuigarh village, Narayanganj; Md. Ikramul Biswas, 24, and his wife Rahima Khatun, 24, from Paikpara village in Abhaynagar upazila, Jashore; Rupa Rani, 28, wife of Sobuj Mondol from Buria village in Asashuni upazila, Satkhira; and Anadi Ranjan Pramanik, 42, son of Rabindra Nath Pramanik from Mahishkur village, Satkhira.

Shaminul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, said, "The authorities will verify their identities and arrange to reunite them with their families."
