BSF returns the body of that Bangladeshi teenager

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has returned the body of a Bangladeshi teenager named Shakil recovered from beside the barbed wire fence of the Akhaura border of Brahmanbaria. The body was handed over to the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the Sanmura area of the border in the evening on Sunday (September 20).

Shakil is the son of Malu Mia, a resident of Abdullahpur Purvapara under Dakshin union of Akhaura upazila. The family members informed that no trace of Shakil could be found after 12:30am last Wednesday. His father Malu Mia has informed that Shakil was mentally unbalanced.

It has been learnt from BGB sources that the BSF members came to know the matter after seeing the body of Shakil lying beside the barbed wire fence in the Sanmura area near pillar 2022-9S of the border of Bangladesh and India. Later after getting the news from the side of BSF the members of Fakirmura BGB camp went to the spot and inquired about the matter.

After that the initiative of recovering the body from the Indian part was taken after communication between the border guard forces and the law enforcement agencies. The members of Lankamura camp of BSF and the police of Agartala West police station went to the spot at night and recovered the body. Later the Indian police completed the post-mortem of the body.

In the evening on Sunday BSF handed over the body to BGB through the designated place of the Sanmura border area. Later after completing the necessary process the arrangement of handing over the body to the family was made.

Commander of 25 BGB Lieutenant Colonel Jabbar Ahmed confirmed the matter and said BSF has handed over the body of Shakil to BGB. However no immediate confirmed information could be obtained regarding how the teenager reached that area of the border and how he died.

After the incident concern has appeared among the locals in the border area. Various questions have arisen over the cause of death and the situation of reaching there after the incident of finding his body beside the barbed wire fence of the border after Shakil went missing. The concerned authorities are examining the matter.
