Budget 2025-26: Minimum wages to be set for 15 more industrial sectors
In the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, the government plans to determine or revise minimum wages for 15 additional industrial sectors over the next three years, announced Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
The Finance Advisor’s budget speech, broadcast on Bangladesh Television at 3 PM on Monday, marks the interim government’s first budget and the 54th in the nation’s history.
Addressing inflation concerns, Dr. Ahmed stated that the annual wage increase rate will be raised from 5% to 9%, effective December 2024.
He also confirmed the declaration of minimum wages for the tannery, soap and cosmetics, cold storage, and tailoring sectors. The government aims to extend minimum wage determinations to 15 more sectors in the coming three fiscal years.
