Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that the days of government officials traveling abroad for trivial matters, such as learning to cook khichuri, are over.

He made these remarks on Saturday, July 11, as the chief guest at a discussion meeting marking 'Gana Bishwabidyalay Day' in Savar.

The minister said the government aims to build an education system where 12 years of pre-higher education will be completed within the scheduled time. He added that a joyful and modern learning environment would be ensured so students do not waste valuable time.

Under the new curriculum, 'learning with happiness', sports, culture, family values and moral education will be included step by step. Work is also underway to include factual and chronological history in textbooks.

Regarding the early publication of admission test results, the minister said it was not a technical glitch but an unauthorised act by an operator, against whom disciplinary action has been taken. He warned that such irregularities would not be tolerated in the future.

At the event, he said that private school students had been included in this year's primary scholarship examinations, as education is a constitutional right for all.
