Bus crash in Dhaka’s Mohakhali leaves helper dead, two injured
A bus helper was killed and two passengers injured after a passenger bus lost control and crashed into a road divider before overturning at Mohakhali area in Dhaka.
The accident took place around 6:00am near Amtoli in Banani police station area, about 100 yards from Mohakhali on Saturday (June 6).
The deceased was identified as Md Rofiqul Islam, 35, a helper of Bhati Bangla Paribahan.
Two passengers — Md Roni, 25, and Md Firoz, 40 — were injured in the incident.
According to Fire Service official Mostafa Kamal, the bus, which had departed from Netrokona and was heading toward Dhaka, lost control and struck a road divider near Amtoli before overturning. Three people were initially reported injured, including the helper.
Fire Service personnel from Tejgaon station rescued the victims and rushed them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared Rofiqul Islam dead around 7:45am.
Banani Police Station Inspector-in-Charge Md Faruk confirmed that the body has been kept at the DMCH morgue. The injured passengers are undergoing treatment at the hospital’s emergency department.
Police said the exact cause of the accident is under investigation.
