Bus rams parked trucks in Gopalganj; 2 killed

2 people were killed and another injured early Friday when a passenger bus crashed into two stationary trucks on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopalganj’s Dumdia area.

The victims were identified as Afran Fakir (35), a truck driver from Khulna, and Yasin Molla (18), a helper from Gopalganj.

According to police, a fruit-laden truck from Jashore’s Keshabpur broke down near Dumdia, along with another truck. While both vehicles were parked on the roadside and being repaired, a speeding bus struck them from behind.

Afran died on the spot. Locals rescued the injured and rushed them to the Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital, where Yasin was declared dead. Another injured truck driver is currently receiving treatment.

OC Mir Md. Sajedur Rahman of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station confirmed the incident. SI Romarn Molla of the Kashiani Highway Police said an investigation is underway.
