Bus services halted on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj route
All bus services along the Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi route have been suspended due to a recent altercation involving transport workers, causing significant inconvenience for passengers.
The disruption began on Monday morning, October 28, after an incident where Saeed Hasan, a driver for Al-Mahi Paribahan, was reportedly beaten by workers from Chapainawabganj.
Disputes have arisen over the incident, with leaders of the Chapainawabganj Bus Owners Association claiming that the driver was assaulted by passengers.
Rafiqul Islam Pakhi, Acting General Secretary of the Rajshahi Motor Workers Union, said, "Tensions escalated when a bus conductor from Rajshahi argued with a Chapainawabganj bus worker over fare issues. The situation intensified when the bus entered Chapainawabganj, resulting in an attack on the driver and conductor."
Anwarul Islam, General Secretary of the Chapainawabganj Motor Workers Union, said, "Both parties seek a resolution, but for unknown reasons, discussions have yet to lead to a solution."
Passengers are currently facing disruptions as the bus services remain suspended.
However, efforts are underway to restore normal operations soon.
