Businessman shot dead in Khulna garage

A businessman was shot dead by miscreants in Khulna city.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon at a motorcycle garage in the Affilgate area under Khanjahan Ali Police Station.

The deceased, Sheikh Sohel, 45, was involved in fish farming and internet business.

According to police and local sources, he went to Bismillah Motor Garage adjacent to Affilgate petrol pump to repair his motorcycle around 2:30pm. Two youths riding a motorcycle opened fire on him around 3:05pm, leaving him dead.

Khanjahan Ali police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Sanwar Hussain Masum said that businessman Sohel died on the spot when the two youths opened fire on him. Preparations are underway to recover the body and send it to the morgue for autopsy.

The incident has created a sensation in the area. Police are trying to identify and arrest those involved.
