Businessman shot, Tk 17 lakh snatched in Motijheel

A money exchange businessman was shot and robbed of Tk 17 lakh in Motijheel, capital, on Sunday afternoon, June 7. The incident took place around 3:15 pm in front of Janata Bank.

According to police and local sources, several motorcyclists intercepted the businessman, Lokman, while he was moving in the Motijheel area. The assailants opened fire at him and snatched a bag containing approximately Tk 17 lakh.

Lokman sustained two bullet wounds to his hand and leg. Passersby rescued him and admitted him to Mugda Medical College Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

Police visited the scene and have launched an investigation. Two bullet shells were recovered from the spot. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify and arrest the culprits.
