Bus-truck collision in Gazipur leaves 2 dead, 3 injured

Two people were killed and three others injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a cattle-laden truck in Kaliakair, Gazipur. Five cows died on the spot, and four others in critical condition were slaughtered.

The accident occurred around 5:30pm on Saturday on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in the Goalbathan area of Kaliakair upazila. The identities of the deceased could not be immediately confirmed.

Police and eyewitnesses said a Shyamoli Paribahan passenger bus collided with a cattle-laden truck in the Dhaka-bound lane in the Goalbathan area. The front portion of the truck was crushed. Fire service and police recovered two bodies from inside the truck. Three others were rescued injured and taken to hospital. Five cows on the truck died on the spot, and four others in critical condition were slaughtered by locals.

Naojor Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Abu Zafar confirmed the matter. He said both vehicles have been seized and the bodies are being taken to the police station. Legal action is underway.
