BWDB orders staff to remain at workstations as heavy rain forecast for next 5 days
The Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) issued a directive requiring all officials and staff to remain at their posts, as the weather forecast predicts heavy rainfall in several regions of the country over the next few days.
In a notice issued on Thursday, the BWDB warned of heavy rainfall in the coastal areas until Monday, and in the Rangpur and Sylhet divisions until Tuesday. Light to moderate rainfall is expected across other parts of the country for the next five days.
To ensure readiness, BWDB has specifically instructed staff in the northern, Rangpur, northeastern, Sylhet, and coastal regions to adhere to safety protocols.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's (BMD) latest bulletin, which covers the 24-hour period starting at 6.00 pm on Thursday, most areas of Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram divisions, as well as parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet, may experience gusty winds along with light to moderate rain or thundershowers.
In addition, some regions may witness moderate to heavy rainfall. The weather office also predicts that temperatures during both the day and night are likely to decrease slightly across the country.
The BMD further stated that the rainfall trend is expected to persist for the next five days.
