CA arrives in Rome for Pope Francis’ funeral
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus arrived in Rome this afternoon to attend the funeral of His Holiness Pope Francis.
Professor Yunus landed at approximately 2:15 pm (Italy time) and was welcomed by the Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy and the Bangladesh Ambassador to Vatican City, according to the Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
Earlier today, Professor Yunus departed from Qatar, leaving for Vatican City at 9:25 am (12:25 pm Bangladesh Standard Time). He was seen off at Hamad International Airport in Doha by Ibrahim bin Yousif Abdullah Fakhroo, the Chief of Protocol of the State of Qatar.
During his visit, the Chief Adviser will first head to St. Peter's Square to pay his respects to the mortal remains of Pope Francis. His Most Reverend Eminence Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Vicar General of His Holiness for Vatican City, will officially greet Professor Yunus and the Bangladesh delegation at St. Peter’s Square.
On Saturday, at around 9:30 am, Professor Yunus will return to St. Peter’s Square to attend the Funeral Mass of Pope Francis.
The Chief Adviser is scheduled to depart from Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport at around 8:00 am (12:00 pm Bangladesh Standard Time) on Sunday and is expected to return to Dhaka in the early hours of Monday.
