CA condoles death of Saudi Grand Mufti

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh.

The prominent Islamic scholar died in Riyadh on Tuesday at the age of 82.

In a condolence message issued Wednesday (September 24), Dr. Yunus said the Muslim world has lost a distinguished cleric and a guiding figure in Islamic thought.

He noted that Sheikh Abdul Aziz’s lifelong service to Islam and his vast scholarship would be remembered with deep respect and gratitude, adding that his absence would be profoundly felt across the Islamic world.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz was globally renowned for his leadership and scholarship. He headed the Saudi General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, and also served as chairman of the Supreme Council of the Muslim World League.

Appointed Grand Mufti in June 1999 by the late King Fahd, he was respected worldwide for his religious authority and contributions.
