CA expresses condolences on death of Dr Kamal Siddiqui

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep sorrow at the death of Dr. Kamal Uddin Siddiqui, former principal secretary to Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

Dr. Kamal Siddiqui passed away at his Gulshan residence on Monday (November 3).

In a condolence message, Yunus described Dr Siddiqui as “a shining star in administration, development thinking and academic research,” praising his honesty, vision, and lifelong dedication to public service.

He said the nation would remember him as a valiant freedom fighter, scholar, and policymaker. “Personally, I have lost a dear friend and a wise companion,” Yunus added, noting Dr. Siddiqui’s integrity despite political harassment and exile.

Calling him a legendary civil servant, the Chief Adviser said his dedication and professionalism should inspire future officials.

A freedom fighter and noted academic, Dr. Siddiqui served as principal secretary until 2006, was a UN Committee member (2005–2009), and later taught at Monash University, Australia.

Dr. Yunus prayed for the eternal peace of his soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
