CA to embark on 4-day visit to Switzerland to attend WEF conference
Chief Adviser to the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, is set to depart for Switzerland on Monday night (January 20) for a four-day visit to attend the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) conference.
He is scheduled to return home on January 24. Accompanying him on the trip will be Lutfe Siddique, the Chief Adviser’s special envoy, along with officials responsible for security.
Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, deputy Press Secretary, shared these details during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Sunday evening (January 19).
During the visit, Dr. Yunus will engage in bilateral meetings with prominent leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Belgian King Philippe, and Thai Prime Minister Phatthana Shinawatra, on the sidelines of the Davos forum.
Additionally, he is expected to meet the heads of various international organizations, such as Amnesty International Secretary General Agnes Callamard, as well as top executives and entrepreneurs from leading companies.
A meeting with Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Facebook's parent company, Meta, is also on the agenda.
Dr. Yunus will participate in a significant dialogue on Bangladesh at the WEF, where he will appeal for increased foreign investment by showcasing the country’s vast investment opportunities.
Deputy Press Secretary Majumder emphasized that the forum will bring together top business leaders from around the globe, providing an excellent platform to highlight Bangladesh’s investment potential and attract global investors.
