Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is set to travel to Malaysia on Monday (11 August) upon the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He will depart from Dhaka on Monday afternoon. During the visit, five Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) may be signed, focusing on defense, energy, business cooperation, and other sectors. Additionally, three Notes of Exchange are likely to be finalized.

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain said the visit will prioritize addressing the challenges faced by Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia’s labor market and seeking solutions. He expressed hope that the strong personal relationship between the two prime ministers will serve the interests of both countries.

On Tuesday morning (12 August), Dr. Yunus and Anwar Ibrahim will hold an official bilateral meeting in Putrajaya. Following the meeting, they will participate in a joint press conference. Later that day, the Malaysian Prime Minister will host a luncheon in honor of the Chief Advisor.

During the visit, Dr. Yunus will attend a business seminar, meet with expatriate Bangladeshis, and join a dinner with Malaysian ministers, civil society representatives, and business leaders. He will also be awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia during a special convocation ceremony.
