CA Yunus arrives in Chattogram
Chief Adviser to the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has arrived in the port city of Chattogram on a one-day visit.
The Chief Adviser's Press Wing announced this information on Wednesday.
The Press Wing said that Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus arrived in Chattogram this morning.
He will attend the fifth convocation ceremony of Chittagong University (CU). There, he will deliver the convocation speech and receive an honorary degree.
The program will be presided over by Chittagong University Vice Chancellor Dr. Md. Yahya Akhtar. Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, UGC Chairman Professor S. M. A. Faiz, and four other advisers will also be present.
The program will begin at 1:30 pm with the guests taking their seats. The convocation procession will be held at 1:45 pm, in which 100 teachers of the university will participate. However, graduates will not be able to participate in this procession. The main event will begin at 2 pm with the national anthem, which will continue till 4 pm.
After reaching Chittagong, he will attend a meeting on the water crisis at the Chittagong City Corporation. From there, he will stay briefly at the Circuit House and then leave for the Chittagong University campus. Upon reaching the campus, he will visit the Faculty of Social Sciences, leave the convocation venue and visit the Grameen Bank regional office and the Vice-Chancellor's residence. He will leave the campus between 6-7 pm and go to Kalurghat. From there, he will either return to the Circuit House or leave directly for Dhaka.
At this year's convocation, 42 PhD and 33 MPhil degree holders, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, will be awarded degrees. The cost of this grand event has been estimated at around 14 crore taka, of which 3 crore taka has been used to build a state-of-the-art pandal measuring 150,000 square feet. The university administration expects that about one hundred thousand people, including former and current students, teachers, and guests, will attend.
