Cabin crew injured in mid-air turbulence
A cabin crew member of Biman Bangladesh Airlines was injured mid-air after a sudden episode of turbulence.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 19, on flight BG-0128 from Abu Dhabi to Dhaka via Chattogram. The injured crew member, Shabama Azmi Mithiila, was immediately admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in Dhaka. X-rays confirmed a fracture above her left elbow.
Biman’s General Manager (Public Relations), Tasrima Bosra Islam, told the media, “Our colleague Mithiila was seriously injured due to turbulence on the return flight from Abu Dhabi. She was taken straight to hospital from the airport. We request everyone to pray for her swift recovery.”
According to reports, the turbulence struck suddenly for about six seconds while the aircraft was preparing to descend from an altitude of around 15,000 feet. At the time, Mithiila was carrying out routine duties, and the seatbelt warning sign had not yet been activated for passengers.
The abrupt jolt caused her to lose balance and fall, resulting in the fracture.
