Call of State Minister for Power to keep lighting limited in Durga Puja

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has called for avoiding unnecessary lighting and keeping it limited in the upcoming Durga Puja by mentioning ensuring uninterrupted power supply in the country as a big challenge due to the ongoing global situation and the crisis of the Middle East.

He made this call in the speech as the chief guest at the preparation meeting organized on the occasion of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja at the meeting room of the Deputy Commissioner of Jashore at noon on Saturday.

At the meeting the State Minister said the government will provide all types of cooperation so that the followers of Sanatan Dharma can observe Durga Puja in an uninterrupted and festive environment. He informed that although 500 kg of rice was allocated to each puja mandap in the past, the decision has been taken to increase it to 600 kg this time.

He also informed that the instruction of special vigilance has been given to the committees of the puja mandaps and the law and order maintaining forces to avoid any isolated unpleasant incident in the last part of the night.

The State Minister said the law and order maintaining forces including the BGB will have to remain most alert to prevent illegal crossing, infiltration of drugs, arms and firecrackers through the border. The instruction of special checking of all types of vehicles including motorcycles has been given from October 1 to ensure the security of Durga Puja.

Calling for keeping the lighting at the puja mandaps in a limited scale this time considering the overall situation of the country he said he hopes that the legal political parties and social organizations will cooperate to make the organization of Durga Puja uninterrupted by standing beside the followers of Sanatan Dharma.

At the meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner of Jashore Ashek Hasan, president of District Puja Celebration Parishad Dipankar Das Ratan, general secretary Tapan Ghosh and the leaders of district and upazila levels highlighted various opinions to complete Durga Puja smoothly.

It was informed from the side of District Puja Celebration Parishad at the meeting that Durga Puja will be held at 737 puja mandaps in Jashore this year. Last year this number was 709. That means 28 mandaps have increased this time compared to last year.
