BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed on Friday night said the nation’s expectations have not been fulfilled with the Chief Adviser’s speech regarding the fresh roadmap for the next parliamentary election.

In an immediate reaction, Salahuddin said, “The Chief Adviser’s speech has not met the expectations of the nation.”

He said, “The Chief Adviser has announced the schedule for the national election, but this announcement does not reflect the aspirations of the people. Most political parties in the country, especially more than 50 parties, had been demanding that the election be held by December. They made this demand considering important factors like public examinations, weather, and Ramadan.”

He further said, “If the government wanted, it was possible to hold the election by January. But instead, a date has been fixed when Ramadan will begin in February. It is not realistic to run an election campaign during Ramadan.”

The leader mentioned that the BNP high command is holding an emergency meeting on the issue and discussions are also ongoing with other political parties involved in the simultaneous movement. An official response will be given after the discussions.

However, Salahuddin Ahmed welcomed the interim government for clarifying its position on the humanitarian corridor issue in the speech.
