A case has been filed by Rafia Akhtar Brishti, a female content creator, over allegations of creating and spreading manipulated and fake photocards using AI technology on social media.

The case was filed at the Cyber Tribunal in Sylhet on Thursday (July 23) by Rafia Akhtar Brishti, who creates content in 'Sylheti language' on social media.

The Cyber Tribunal judge took the complaint into cognisance and directed the Deputy Commissioner (DB) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) to submit an investigation report by September 20.

Confirming the matter, the complainant's lawyer Advocate Md Jabir Hossain Balon said the case has been filed under sections 22, 25 and 27 of the Cyber Security Act, 2026.

He said a group has deliberately edited his client's photos using AI technology and uploaded them on social media to defame her personally and socially.

Content creator Rafia Akhtar Brishti alleged that within a span of just 18 days, her manipulated photos have been published through a series of posts and photocards on social media. In several of these, artificial intelligence (AI) technology was used to distort the images.

She said, "I am not just a woman, I am a mother. If my child grows up and sees these manipulated images, what will they think? My father is a heart patient, an elderly man. He won't even understand that these were released through AI."

She alleged that due to this continuous campaign of misinformation, she and her family have suffered socially, mentally, financially and professionally.

The complaint mentions that between June 26 and July 13, multiple posts were published using her photos at various times, spreading allegations of being infected with diseases, fraud, honeytraps, involvement in immoral activities and acquiring assets illegally in a short period of time.
