Case filed in Sadarghat launch accident, 5 arrested

A case has been filed in the capital's Sadarghat area over the casualties and missing person in the collision of two launches. So far, five people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

On Friday (March 20), Naval Police Dhaka Region Police Superintendent Abdullah Al-Mamun confirmed the matter. He said that Siraj Fakir, the brother of the missing Miraj, filed a case with the South Keraniganj Police Station in Dhaka. The case alleges reckless driving and death due to negligence. Seven people have been named in the case, along with four to five unidentified people.

After the case was filed, five people involved in the two launches have been arrested and sent to court, he said.

Earlier, a young man named Sohel, 22, was killed in a collision in the Sadarghat area on March 18. His pregnant wife Ruba is undergoing treatment at the hospital after being injured in the same incident. In addition, Sohel's father Miraj is still missing.

At the time of the incident, Miraj was travelling with his son and daughter-in-law in a trawler to board a launch in the middle of the river. At that time, the trawler fell between the two launches and was crushed, causing a terrible accident.
