Case filed over death of 6 newborns at Ad-din Hospital alleging negligence
A regular case has been filed over the death of six newborns at Ad-din Medical College Hospital in Magbazar, capital. The case, filed under specific sections of the Penal Code, alleges that the deaths were caused by extreme medical negligence.
DMP's Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Sheikh Zahidul Islam confirmed the filing to journalists on Wednesday night, May 27.
The written complaint was filed by the family of one of the deceased newborns and was subsequently registered as a case, he said.
The DC said all the bodies had been handed over to their respective families after legal procedures, without autopsies, as the families were unwilling and submitted written applications.
The six newborns died one after another in the post-delivery ward of Ad-din Medical College Hospital on Tuesday night. Since the incident, relatives and families of the deceased have alleged that the deaths occurred due to extreme mismanagement in the ward and the air conditioning being turned off for a long period, causing suffocation.
