A case has been filed following the dismembered body of Ashraful Haque was recovered from a drum near the gate of the National Eidgah Ground adjacent to the High Court in Dhaka.

The body, found in 26 pieces inside a blue drum, was later identified through fingerprints.

His sister, Anzina Begum, filed a case at Shahbagh Police Station on Friday (November 14), naming Ashraful’s friend Jorez Mia as the main suspect, along with several unidentified individuals.

Ashraful, a trader importing onions and potatoes from India and Myanmar, was from Gopalpara under Badarganj of Rangpur. Ashraful last contacted his family on Wednesday night, said
DC Masud Alam of Ramna Division.

Family members said Ashraful had no known enemies and had arrived in Dhaka three days ago with Jorez. His phone became unreachable after arrival.

Khalid Monsur, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police, said, "No arrests have been made yet. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to trace those responsible."
