Cases filed after August 5 should undergo proper investigation: IGP
The newly appointed IGP Baharul Alam has said that cases filed after August 5 should undergo proper investigation.
He said that innocent individuals should not face harassment, and police officers should not be unjustly victimized.
If an innocent person is implicated in a case, he instructed that appropriate legal measures should be taken to have the case withdrawn.
On Saturday, while chairing a meeting at the Police Headquarters regarding the overall law and order situation and security of the country, he gave these instructions to senior police officers at the field level.
The meeting was conducted virtually with all Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs, and District Police Superintendents, with DIG (Operations) Mohammad Rezaul Karim moderating.
Additional IGPs Mohammad Golam Kibria, Mohammad Akram Hossain, Abu Nasir Mohammad Khaled, DIG Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, and other relevant officials were present at the Police Headquarters.
To boost police morale, the IGP directed the Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs, and District Police Superintendents to have regular consultations with their forces.
The new police chief also instructed field-level police officers to increase public relations.
He emphasized that the police must go to the people, listen to their problems or complaints, and take legal action accordingly.
Referring to the current situation and public expectations, the IGP said: "If any unwanted situation arises, the police must handle it with patience and a strong role."
In the meeting, he also directed field-level police officers to strengthen the recovery of looted weapons.
