CCTV cameras around polling centre in Narayanganj vandalised
Miscreants vandalised several CCTV cameras installed around a polling centre in Narayanganj-4 constituency late Tuesday night (February 10), officials said.
The incident took place near Ramarbagh Government Primary School in Ward No. 9 of Kutubpur Union, which has been designated as a voting centre for the upcoming parliamentary election.
Footage from surviving cameras shows a group of youth lingering around the area shortly before the devices were damaged and removed. At least five CCTV cameras installed in and around the centre were reportedly smashed and taken away.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer SM Foyez Uddin said he was not immediately aware of the incident but was looking into the matter. Appropriate action will be taken if the allegations are substantiated, he said, adding that new CCTV cameras may be installed at the site if necessary to ensure security.
