Chief election commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin held a meeting with chief justice Dr Syed Refat Ahmed on Tuesday afternoon. The meeting took place at the chief justice’s chamber. The CEC reached the Supreme Court before 2pm directly from the Election Commission secretariat. As per tradition, the CEC meets the chief justice ahead of announcing the election schedule. Today, he attended the meeting with his secretary. Sources said the discussion covered boundary-related cases and measures to ensure that post-schedule writ petitions do not hamper election activities. They also discussed judges’ assignment of magistracy duties during election operations. The CEC is scheduled to meet the president on Wednesday.

প্রধান বিচারপতি ড. সৈয়দ রেফাত আহমেদের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে করেছেন প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনার এ এম এম নাসির উদ্দিন। মঙ্গলবার (৯ ডিসেম্বর) দুপুরে প্রধান বিচারপতির খাসকামরায় তারা একান্ত বৈঠকে করেন। দুপুর ২টার আগে ইসি থেকে সরাসরি সুপ্রিম কোর্টে আসেন সিইসি। সংসদ নির্বাচনের তফসিল ঘোষণার আগে রেওয়াজ অনুযায়ী প্রধান বিচারপতির সঙ্গে দেখা করেন নির্বাচন কমিশনা। তবে আজ সিইসি একাই এসেছেন তার সচিবকে নিয়ে। জানা গেছে, সীমানাসংক্রান্ত মামলা ছাড়াও তফসিল ঘোষণার পর কোনো রিট যাতে নির্বাচনী কাজকে বাধাগ্রস্ত না করতে পারে সেসব বিষয়ে বৈঠকে কথা হয়। এছাড়া নির্বাচন পরিচালনার সময় বিচারকদের ম্যাজিস্ট্রেসি দায়িত্ব পালনের বিষয় নিয়েও কথা বলেন তারা। আগামীকাল বুধবার সিইসি দেখা করবেন রাষ্ট্রপতির সঙ্গে।
