CEC pledges fair, independent election preparations

Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin has assured that the Election Commission will organize a fair and independent election, preparing fully without external influence.

The CEC made the remarks on Monday afternoon (September 1) after meeting US Ambassador to Dhaka Tracy Ann Jacobson at the Election House in Agargaon.

He said the embassy’s visit was aimed at understanding the Commission’s preparations.

“Given the special circumstances and the advisory regarding voting before Ramadan, we have started preparations early and strengthened them,” he said.

Nasir Uddin also confirmed that law enforcement and intelligence agencies will operate under the full control of the Election Commission during the polls, promising full cooperation from all agencies.

Regarding a recent clash between BNP and NCP leaders during a parliamentary constituency delimitation hearing, the CEC said legal action has been initiated and the police will act against the culprits after completing their investigation.
