Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin will address the nation this evening (February 11) ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election.

The Election Commission (EC) confirmed the matter in a statement on Tuesday (February 10).

According to EC sources, the speech was recorded on Tuesday evening and will be broadcast simultaneously on Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar and all private television and radio channels.

In his address, the CEC is expected to outline the overall preparations for the national election and urge voters to cast their ballots without fear.

He may also provide details on the distribution of election materials, security arrangements at 42,659 polling centres nationwide, and the overall law and order situation. Nearly 9,58,000 members of law enforcement agencies are set to be deployed, with CCTV cameras and drone surveillance planned at polling centres.

The CEC is also likely to reiterate the Commission’s commitment to holding a free, fair, neutral and participatory election.

Notably, the CEC had announced the election schedule in a televised address to the nation on December 11 last year.
