Centre Secretary, Hall Superintendent discharged for using 2025 question paper in SSC exam in Noakhali
Authorities have exempt the centre secretary, hall superintendent and several teachers from duty after an SSC examination in Noakhali was conducted using the wrong year’s question paper.
The incident took place at Sonaimuri Model Government High School examination centre during the Hindu Religion and Moral Education exam on Thursday morning (May 11), when candidates were reportedly given the 2025 question paper instead of the current year’s set.
A total of 15 Hindu students took part in the examination at the centre.
According to allegations, students noticed the discrepancy during the exam and immediately informed invigilators, but no effective action was taken at the time. The matter later came to light after the examination ended, sparking strong reactions among guardians and locals.
Parents blamed negligence by the centre authorities, warning that the mistake could affect students’ academic results and demanding exemplary punishment for those responsible.
Accused hall superintendent and centre secretary Maulana Safi Ullah admitted that the wrong question paper had been distributed. He claimed corrective steps were later taken through the Upazila administration and that the matter had been reported to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Cumilla.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasrin Akter confirmed that last year’s question paper had mistakenly been used for this year’s examinees. "Immediate action was taken after the issue surfaced, including removal of the centre secretary, hall superintendent and other responsible officials, while new officials were appointed in their place," she added.
Cumilla Education Board Examination Controller Professor Runa Nasrin also confirmed the incident, stating that administrative measures had been taken against those found responsible following a preliminary investigation.
