Health Minister Sardar Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain Babul withdrew the transfer order of Chandpur Civil Surgeon Dr Nure Alam Din within hours of issuing it on Sunday morning. The minister had ordered the civil surgeon to be 'stand released' after being angered by mismanagement at the hospital. Later, after visiting the district's 250-bed General Hospital and speaking with the civil surgeon, the minister withdrew the transfer order and granted him a 'general pardon this time'.

On Sunday morning, the Health Minister made a surprise visit to the Haimchar Upazila Health Complex in Chandpur. During his inspection, he expressed dissatisfaction with the medical services, management and overall environment. He immediately ordered the transfer of the Chandpur Civil Surgeon over allegations of mismanagement and negligence.

The minister later visited the Chandpur 250-bed General Hospital. There, he inspected various activities of the hospital and spoke with Civil Surgeon Dr Nure Alam Din. After the discussion, the transfer order issued in the morning was withdrawn.

Sources said the minister announced a 'general pardon this time' for the civil surgeon. However, the minister's surprise visit and subsequent decision sent a clear message that any negligence or mismanagement in hospital management and healthcare quality would not be tolerated.

During the Health Minister's visit, Chandpur-3 MP Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, Chandpur District Council Administrator Advocate Salim Ullah Selim, Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Ziaur Rahman and other health department officials were present.
