Chargesheets filed in 106 cases of July Uprising
Out of the cases filed in various parts of the country during the July Uprising, chargesheets have been filed in 106 cases so far. Of these, 31 are murder cases and 75 are cases under other sections.
This information was given in a press release sent from the Police Headquarters on Tuesday evening.
The Police Headquarters said that the 31 murder cases for which chargesheets were filed have occurred in Pabna, Sirajganj, Bogura, Dhaka, Narayanganj, Cumilla, Chandpur, Feni, Kurigram, Sherpur districts and in the areas under the jurisdiction of PBI, Rajshahi, Chattogram and Dhaka Metropolitan Police. On the other hand, 75 cases under other sections have been filed in Pabna, Sirajganj, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Bogura, Dhaka, Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Tangail, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Sherpur, Jamalpur, Mymensingh, Barguna districts and PBI, CID, Dhaka, Barisal, Rajshahi, Chattogram and Rangpur Metropolitan Police areas.
Senior police officers are regularly monitoring to ensure proper investigation of the cases filed during the mass uprising of the students and the public. Bangladesh Police is striving to complete the investigation of other registered cases and bring the culprits to justice.
In addition, interim investigation reports have been submitted to the court to acquit a total of 2,830 people in 437 anti-discrimination cases under Section 173A of the Criminal Procedure Code.
