Import and export operations have resumed in full at Chattogram Port after a two-day standstill, with operations back in full swing from Monday morning (June 30).

Containers are now being unloaded from ships, and export goods are being loaded from private depots.

The disruption occurred due to a shutdown called by the 'NBR Sanskar Oikya Parishad,' which led to the closure of all customs houses and stations across the country from Saturday until Sunday night. As a result, Chattogram Port's operations came to a halt due to the lack of customs approval.

However, after a meeting between business leaders and the Parishad on Sunday night at 9:30pm, the shutdown was lifted. While some operations began that evening, the port became fully operational on Monday.

Chattogram Custom House Deputy Commissioner Saidul Islam confirmed to the media that all activities have resumed as usual since this morning. Port Secretary Omar Faruk also stated that both import and export operations at the port have returned to normal with customs officials resuming their duties.

Saiful Alam, president of the C&F Agents Association, expressed confidence that the port's operations would return to normal in a few days, despite the brief suspension.
