The Chattogram metropolitan unit of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad has dismissed President Lion Ashish Bhattacharya and General Secretary Hillol Sen for permitting a group of performers to sing Islamic song on stage at the Durga Puja mandap in JM Sen Hall, located in the port city.

A letter signed by Sachindra Nakh Baroi, the Office Secretary of the Chattogram Puja Udjapan Parishad, announced the removal of the President and General Secretary this afternoon (October 11).

Additionally, the parishad permanently expelled its Joint General Secretary, Sajal Dutta, in connection with this incident.

The statement expresses that the Puja Udjapan Parishad strongly condemns the unfortunate incident that took place during the cultural program on October 10. The Hindu community has been deeply hurt by this undesirable event. The parishad is calling for a judicial investigation into the matter and urges the identification of those involved to ensure justice is served.
