Chattogram's Teribazar fire claims two lives, destroys three shops
A fire at the multi-story KB Orchid Plaza in Teribazar has killed two people and destroyed at least three shops.
The blaze broke out around 10:00 am on the fourth floor of the complex and spread rapidly. The deceased were identified as Mohammad Yunus, 52, and Md. Solaiman, 28, both from Potia Upazila. A third individual, also critically burned, is receiving treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire drew a crowd despite the ongoing Eid holiday, though the area was relatively quiet in the morning.
Nurul Alam Ashik, in charge of the hospital police outpost, confirmed the deaths, stating that three victims were brought to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where two were pronounced dead by emergency doctors.
Fire service officials said smoke was first spotted at Western Tailors on the fourth floor. Four fire engines from Chandanpura and Nandan Kanon stations responded quickly, bringing the fire under control after about an hour of operations.
