Chevening Scholarship applications open, fully-funded Master's opportunity in the UK

Applications have started for the prestigious Chevening Scholarship offered by the UK government. Under this scholarship, selected students will have the opportunity to pursue a fully-funded one-year Master's degree at various universities in the United Kingdom for the 2026-27 academic year.

The British High Commission in Dhaka confirmed this in a notification on Wednesday, August 5. The notification said that applications opened on August 4 and will continue until October 6. Individuals with leadership potential from Bangladesh and around the world will have the opportunity to pursue higher education and become part of the global Chevening network through this programme.

The Chevening authorities said that in the selection process, special importance will be given to the applicant's leadership qualities, ability to influence, communication skills and potential to bring about positive change in their respective fields.

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke said the Chevening Scholarship is providing talented young Bangladeshis with the opportunity to gain an internationally recognised education. She expressed hope that this will further strengthen the long-term people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Since its inception in 1983, over 395 Bangladeshis have been awarded Chevening Scholarships to date. The British High Commission said the programme demonstrates the UK's continued commitment to developing future leadership .

Chevening is the UK government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations. Selected students from over 140 countries and territories worldwide receive the opportunity to pursue higher education at UK universities through this scholarship .

Interested candidates can apply through the Chevening designated online application portal. The authorities have advised prospective applicants to thoroughly review the programme's objectives, eligibility criteria and benefits before submitting a competitive application.
